Released in 1978 on the Voix du Liban label, "Omar Khorshid With Love Vol. 1" highlights Khorshid's electric guitar twang on Arabic melodies and modern arrangements, including the sounds of the very first synthesizers.
Omar Khorshid is one of the greatest guitarists in the Arab world and has accompanied the biggest stars such as Oum Kalthoum, Abdel Halim Hafez, and Farid El Atrache. Born in Cairo in 1945, after studying music from a young age, he joined the Egyptian pop group Les Petits Chats in 1966 and played with them for several years until the famous Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez saw them in concert. Impressed by Khorshid, he decided to recruit him immediately for his own band. This marked the beginning of the guitarist's rise as he began playing for the Egyptian diva Oum Kalthoum and several other Egyptian stars. Following the political troubles that arose in Egypt in the early 1970s, Khorshid decided to settle in Lebanon in 1973 and started recording under his own name for several labels in Beirut. The album With Love, recorded during his time in Lebanon, was released on the Voice of Lebanon label in 1978. It showcases Omar Khorshid's talent and the unique sound of his guitar, accompanied by modern arrangements, making him one of the true innovators of Arabic music. With renditions of classics such as "Ahwak" by Mohamed Abdel Wahab, "Hebbina Hebbina" by Farid El-Atrache, and "Rahbaniyat" by the Rahbani brothers, the album is a shining example of a successful fusion between tradition and modernity. Extremely rare in this condition.
