Lucien Joly Quartet – Week End (Private Press - JL 155 - Martinique - 1987)

250.00 / Sold Out

Beautiful second album privately released by Martinique born french saxophone player, one year after his debut classic the self titled "Lucien Joly Quintet". This time in quartet featuring José Lancry (Enco-Ti-Tac / Madjumbé) on Keyboard, José Zebina on Drums & Alain Antoinette on bass.
This hard to find still underrated Caribbean contemporary Jazz classic includes the deep modern jazz "Week-End" that is a really high class modal tune, also one of my favorite is the opening track "Mim" with an uptempo rhythm, Lancry on piano & Joly on sax deliver ardent solos.

I discovered this record 20 years ago now and it is the 2nd time only I grab such a clean copy.

Record looks EX (one barely visible hairline) plays NM / Sleeve is EX very close to NM.
