This is the 2nd album by the QPSM Unit that have grown tremendously since their l1st album, sounding like the glory days of the 70s spiritual jazz scene on Strata East, Tribe & Black Jazz ! The music here is all composed by legendary David Durrah, who's with the group for the recording on piano - playing with these bold, soaring lines that are wonderful - very expansive, expressive chords that have a great post-Coltrane sensibility creating righteous energy amidst a lineup that also features Sabir Mateen on tenor, Alex Harding on baritone, Clark Gayton on trombone, Salim Washington on tenor and oboe, and Radu Ben Judah on bass.
There's lots of great percussion in the group, too and a few cuts feature vocals by singers who include Patsy Grant, Ronnell Bey, and Tschaka Tonge who all add in this extra layer of spirituality to the record!
