Hard-to-find 4th album by the Cameroonian singer and bassist, former member of the legendary Ryco-Jazz, who also played with Manu Dibango, Nino Ferrer and Osibisa. This LP is arguably his finest moment, packed with killer funky cuts like “Afrika,” an irresistible slice of electro-funk.
The absolute highlight is the mutant funk / afro-beat bomb “Ngongo,” driven by a thunderous electronic bassline. Don’t miss the funky reggae hybrid “Rasta Gaulois,” loaded with pounding percussion, heavy drums and a hilariously playful bass groove. “British Girl of London” and “Adam & Eve” keep the momentum going in the same modern African music spirit.
The entire album is arranged by none other than Slim Pezin — one of the funkiest French musicians of his era.
