Jacques Thollot – Quand Le Son Devient Aigu, Jeter La Girafe À La Mer (Futura Records – GER 24)

270.00 / Sold Out

Incredible album by genius drummer Jacques Thollot. "Quand le Son Devient Aigu, Jeter la Girafe à la Mer" released on the cult Free / Avant Garde label Futura was entirely composed by Thollot, who played all the instruments including early electronic sounds and tapes manipulation. The result is an insane piece of music, is it avant garde flirting with jazz or the contrary. Anyway don't miss "Cécile" with heady piano motif and insane drums and concrete music sound." Aussi large que long" reminds some Cecil Taylor tunes, "Quand le son devient aigu, jeter la girafe à la mer" the titled track sounds like an Ennio Morricone drama jazz soundtracks. Totally insane album pretty unique in the jazz scene.
