Bob Azzam And His Orchestra – New Sounds (Columbia – SSX 1035 - Sweden - 1968)
€140.00
Azzam began his career in Italy in the late 1950s, with his band, singing in Italian and in English. In 1960, he released two very popular songs in France that were influenced by oriental music, "Ya Mustafa" (Chérie je t'aime, chérie je t'adore, como la salsa de pomodoro) and "Fais-moi du couscous, chérie". In 1968 this New Sounds album is released by Columbia in Sweden.
It remains one of his most wanted album for hip-hop producers as it includes a cover one of the most famous drum break sampled in 90's rap : "Rain, Rain, Go Away" by Allen Toussaint. The Azzam version has amazing snapping beat sampled by Madlib, Westside Gunn, Artifacts, Ghostface Killah, Action Bronson Mic Geronimo, Deltron 3030, Show & A.G, Redman, O.C, Da Bush Baby....
"Tea For Two" is another great psychedelic pop tune with super groovy bass while "Mrs. Wilson" is a super funky soul pop tune.
Also includes a great version of Jacques Dutronc's Et moi et moi et moi sung in english here titled "The Story Of My Life (And Me, And Me, And Me"). "The Last Time" is a brilliant cover of the Rolling Stones.
Record is VG+ (a few scuffs, plays really well, actual clip on our instagram post / Sleeve is EX close to NM.
